It was another good day. Wind was mild, hills were quite manageable, and the roads were mostly good. The difficult (i.e., dangerous) parts of the ride occured in the towns. Coming into a community the highway shoulder simplydisappears; the roadway adds a curb and narrows to accommodate four lanes of traffic -forcing the cyclist to compete with the traffic, with no exit strategy. When we discovered the last ten miles of US 65 into Conway was a such four lane highway with no shoulder we took the only alternative—State Hwy 25, which was a bit circuitous but a good country road (at least up until the last two miles). We popped off 25 just a few blocks from the Comfort Inn where we had reservations, but when we tried to check in, we discovered our reservation was at “the other Comfort Inn”-- two miles further east. Thankfully, the other one waived the cancellation fee, so we were able to check in where we had landed!
.....while AGO team &Diane decided to add....... Coconut Cream PIE!! (One with the missing wedge.)
Still not every day is all about the glory of the ride or the delights of high caloric southern food - There is work to be done.
First the laundary.
And lastly we settle on our new route to Lulu, Missisppi. Just follow the orange line......
Tomorrow we return to more rigorous mileage - 70 miles or more. Rob and Diane
