More about Georgia

Even though we breezed through Georgia (until the last hill where the breakdown occurred) we saw beauty everywhere.  Gerogia is the number one peanut-producing state in the USA, accounting for approximately 45 percent of the crop's national acreage and production.  We saw peanut fields being harvested, and production plants along the way.  In some areas, the roasting process created an acrid smoky overtone.  We also biked through beautiful pecan orchards -- the trees are quite large and, unlike the fruit tree orchards we are accustomed to in the Northwest,  are spaced far apart, creating an estate-like feel.
