A Certain Symmetry - Phillipsburg to Beloit.

An 80 mile day marked by strong side winds.  Except for about 12 miles, unfavorable to at best semi-neutral winds.  But by “keeping at it,” we arrived at our hotel in just under nine hours, seven of which was spent on the bikes.
Along the way there was a moment of poetic symmetry, we reached 2000 miles, which we believe marks the half-way point of our trip.  At same time we passed just north of the geodetic center of North America.  And as to somehow remind us what lies ahead, we saw our first palm trees (see photos below).  Lastly Rob had the opportunity to commune with a national landmark that embodies an essential quality of the long distance cyclist – perseverance (again see photos below).
A day marked by wind and....
... a certain stoicism.

But we break the 2000 mile mark.....

... and a victory for the day.

Not to mention we pay homage to an important icon of American persistence.
WAIT FOR IT!!!

(Yes the AGO gang was there.)

And now the promised palm trees.

Next your "art photos" moment of the day.

Lastly, please forgive the inside family joke. "Kids we found the Tardis!"
Headed toward Salina.... Rob and Diane
